It is no secret that the famed WWE 2K franchise is getting a new installment this year. However, unlike the upcoming entry in 2K’s other sporting simulation video gaming series, NBA 2K18, this year’s WWE game, dubbed WWE 2K18, is yet to get a specific release date. But that does not mean it is not coming this year, and 2K has already shed light on when we can expect the game to arrive.
The news first came to light after 2K’s parent company Take-Two Interactive (also the creators of the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 that is still in the works) revealed some interesting details about their financial plans for the current fiscal year during their latest earnings report. And among all the other games that found mention, WWE 2K18 figured as a prominent presence.
The publishing giant took a few names while speaking with reporters present, and it was there that they have announced that WWE 2K18 is now slated for a Fall 2017 release date. That’s reassuring to hear, as fans had begun to fear if the upcoming game would be delayed, considering how many highly awaited video games have been delayed recently. And that includes the recently declared delay for Take-Two’s own Red Dead Redemption 2 (developed by Rockstar Games).
Sadly, not much else about the upcoming WWE 2K18 was shed any further light on during the earnings call. So we will have to wait a while before we get to know more about the game’s new features as well as to learn about an actual date of release. Considering that NBA 2K18 is coming out on September 19, we expect the new WWE 2K game to be pushed out around the usual time during early October.
Other elements like features and a possible cover star are still tightly under wraps, but we hope 2K will roll out more information eventually over the next few months. To name a few things that fans want to see in WWE 2K18, deeper player customization and a re-entry of the famed 2K Showcase rank high. And all bets are on Kurt Angle being featured at its center. But undoubtedly, we hope for some massive improvements to make their way into the new game.
